St. Alban’s—there’s so much I don’t know right now.
But here is what I know to be true today:
I know that some of us are feeling distraught and worried and grief-laden today. I see you.
I know that some of us are feeling pleased and encouraged today. I see you too.
I know that we’ve all felt this way before, one time or another.
I know that your clergy are here for you–ready to talk with you, listen to you, pray with you, and hold space for you.
I know that our bonds of love and mutual affection are strong enough to see us through whatever mix of thoughts and emotions we are carrying right now.
I know that we will keep showing up to worship and learn and serve together like we always do.
I know that, as we celebrate confirmations in our community this Sunday, we will all have the chance to reaffirm our commitment to the Baptismal Covenant.
I know that, regardless of who was elected, our task before, during, and after the election was going to be the same. Our charge as Christians is always to:
Believe in God the Father.
Believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
Believe in God the Holy Spirit.
Continue in the apostles' teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in the prayers.
Persevere in resisting evil, and, whenever we fall into sin, repent and return to the Lord.
Proclaim by word and example the Good News of God in Christ.
Seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving our neighbor as ourselves.
Strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being.
And I know that we will, with God's help.
Yours in Christ,
Carmen
