Road Trip Reflections

ree

Joy is…smiles on the faces of young children. My heart is full after completing our week of Vacation Bible School, Road Trip VBS, last week. We had about 40 children and almost 20 parent, youth, and adult volunteers to help make it happen. We cannot do this without volunteer help and support to make it happen. The children spent the week going on a Road Trip learning that God is with us On the Journey, When we go Off Course, When we are Joyful, and When we are Lonely. Each day, we were welcomed with amazing music, dancing, singing, and acting out verses with the awesome Mr. Matt. Then, we were ready to go on our Road Trip for the day.

At the Crafts station, we made our own license plates, compasses, car picture frames, and made bingo cards and played Road Trip Bingo. In Science, we saw many amazing experiments including billiard ball action and reaction, magnetizing a needle to make our own compass, fun with messages through cups and string, and ball gravity drop. In Bible Story, all the bible stories linked with each day came alive through the amazing teachings of Miss Becky and Mr. Mark. Luke, one of our awesome youths, did a great job tiring the kids out on the playground, but not for too long in the heat before they were running for their water bottles and snack. Last, but certainly not least, Mr. Matt did a wonderful job teaching the kids about music and always starting and ending us with lively songs, singing, and dancing.

These weeks are always filled with lots of laughter, happy kids, and amazing experiences. All our volunteers make connections with the kids, who sometimes teach us as much as we teach them. Our hope is always to leave the kids with a Christian message through Bible stories that come alive through activities. From what we saw that hope was accomplished, and we pray that the kids enjoyed it as much as we did. Thank you so much for sharing your children with us.
