God Working In Us

Have you ever felt like living for God is just too difficult? Do you feel like you’ve tried and tried and tried but you just couldn't seem to do the things that please God? Well, this verse is sent by God just for us. In Philippians 2:13 and it states that God is working in us giving us the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

Here's what I love about this verse. It gives us a little insight into God's character. It tells us first, what is God doing. He's working in us, in you, in me. God is an active participant from the moment we surrendered our lives to Jesus. God begins working in us, so he's working in you, he's active.

Secondly, we serve a generous God. He's a giving God. He loves to give to his children. He is giving us the DESIRE, a want to please him. And you know what if that's all he did that would be amazing, but he’s so generous, he takes it a step further. Not only does he give us the want to desire to please him, but also gives us the POWER and the ability to do what pleases him.

Yes, we can live for God because God is working in us giving us the desire and the power to do what pleases him. Now you may be asking or thinking that this is phenomenal news but what do I do with that. Here's the first thing that we can do so we are actively participating in God's work in our lives, that is to READ THE WORD by reading the Bible because God's word is going to show us his character but it's also going to show us the things that please him.

Secondly, we can PRAY. Because we can pray God's word, we can ask God daily to help us to do the things that please him and thank him for his word. We can remind him of his words. God thank you that your word says that you're giving me the desire and the power to do what pleases you.

And thirdly here's how we can be an active participant in God's work in our lives, you can be an ACTIVE MEMBERS of our church community. In being an active member of our church community, we are going to be walking alongside other people whom God is working in them, as well. We can remind each other that God is working. And even on the days when you don't see it, guess what always know this God is working in each of us, giving us the desire and the power to do what pleases our him.

Read, Pray and Community of Believers.

Where are you on your faith journey?

What areas do you need to lean into God for his help, for your desire, his power and community?

O come Holy Spirit, come, lead, and guide us!

Giving all honor, glory, and praise to God.

Yours in Christ,

Deacon Valerie
