Happy Fall Y’all! Finally cooler temperatures, beautiful leaves changing color, and all the Fall smells of firepits, pumpkin bread, apple pie, and so much more! This time of year is always so exciting with football, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and family and friend gatherings. My daughter especially loves it because it is her birthday season!
I always get reflective this time of year as I get to sit on my deck more often in the Fall and just enjoy my view of colorful trees and soft breezes. As many of you know, my job spans the years of children from birth to high school seniors. I have the pleasure of helping Father Kevin with Confirmation and having deeper conversations with our youth. Many of them I have known since they were young, when I helped teach Sunday School. It is a distinct pleasure to see them grow up and develop their faith in this wonderful faith community.
In Matthew 13:23, it reads “What was sown on the good ground, this is he who hears the word, and understands it, who most certainly bears fruit, and brings forth, some one hundred times as much, some sixty, and some thirty.” We never know the impact we make, and I am so grateful to be a part of the journey of the children and youth in the St. Alban’s community. A sense of pride wells up as we celebrate our graduates and Confirmands each year. My part is miniscule in their journey, and it is with great honor that I accept the task.
Our families with young children fill my heart with joy because I know that I am a small part of their faith beginning. To see their little eyes light up with even the smallest revelation makes my heart smile. What a gift to even be a part of their journey and even more to get the hugs and high fives from them is the absolute best! You hope and pray that even for just a moment that you have captured them with a message of hope.
We are all part of the “good ground” and can make an impact that will ripple “one hundred times as much, some sixty, and some thirty”. Even if it is only just one, the difference is made and can last a lifetime. We are all vessels of God’s love and sharing it will undeniably give back tenfold. Each Sunday our Sunday School teachers make an impact with our children and youth, and I am so incredibly thankful for each of them. We welcome volunteers to be a part of this amazing ministry!
