“Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them, for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.”
– Matthew 19:14
On Sunday mornings, we offer a nursery for children ages 3 and under. The nursery is staffed by a mix of volunteers and paid attendants, often Davidson College students. All staff are background checked and trained in Safe Church procedures. The nursery is generally open from 10:15 a.m. through the end of the 10:30 a.m. service (approximately 11:45 a.m.) and is located just off the narthex (main upstairs lobby) in the room with double doors.
Nursery Volunteers: Helping to care for our youngest members and visitors is such an important and rewarding ministry. Parents who regularly use the nursery are especially asked to periodically take a turn volunteering in the nursery. Please contact Jessica Ewell in the church office if you would like to volunteer.
Jesus loves kids and so does St. Alban’s! Children and their families are integral members of our parish community. We strive to create children’s classes and events that are fun, nurture their faith, and assist parents in becoming spiritual leaders at home as children learn and grow. Our Sunday School classes use the Weaving God’s Promises curriculum. This curriculum helps to teach children the way of Christ, not only in the church but also in the world as Christ’s ambassadors.
Sunday School for children ages 4 through fifth grade generally takes place from 10:15 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. in our Sunday School classrooms downstairs, during the first half of the 10:30 a.m. service. Following their classes, children are accompanied by their teachers to the service, where they return to their parents during the Passing of the Peace, so that families can receive Holy Communion together.
