Children's Ministry

“Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them, for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.”

– Matthew 19:14

Nursery

On Sunday mornings, we offer a nursery for children ages 3 and under. The nursery is staffed by a mix of volunteers and paid attendants, often Davidson College students. All staff are background checked and trained in Safe Church procedures. The nursery is generally open from 10:15 a.m. through the end of the 10:30 a.m. service (approximately 11:45 a.m.) and is located just off the narthex (main upstairs lobby) in the room with double doors.

Nursery Volunteers: Helping to care for our youngest members and visitors is such an important and rewarding ministry. Parents who regularly use the nursery are especially asked to periodically take a turn volunteering in the nursery. Please contact Courtney Fossett in the church office if you would like to volunteer.

Sunday School

Jesus loves kids and so does St. Alban’s! Our Sunday School classes use the Episcopal Lesson Plans That Work curriculum. This curriculum helps to teach children the way of Christ, not only in the church, but also in the world as Christ’s ambassadors.

Sunday School for children ages 4 through fifth grade generally takes place Sunday mornings between Labor Day and Memorial Day from 10:15 a.m. – 11:10 a.m. in our Middle School room at the bottom of the stairs or outdoors, weather permitting. Following their classes, children are accompanied by their teachers to the service, where they return to their parents during the Passing of the Peace, so that families can receive Holy Communion together.

Summer Children's Chapel

On Sunday mornings over the summer we offer Children’s Chapel for all ages weekly during the 10:30 service. Children will begin worship with their families. Then they will be invited to gather around the deacon for the Gospel reading. After hearing the Gospel up close, they will process out for a time of age-appropriate music, prayers, and a short lesson during the Sermon. Typically, they will return to the nave during the Passing of the Peace so families can be together for Holy Communion.

Vacation Bible School

Each summer, St. Alban’s offers a week of Vacation Bible School for children.
