Taking a moment for mindfulness, my watch even reminds me of this important reflection time. Sometimes I wonder if it knows that my heart rate has increased, and I really need it in that moment. Whatever the reason, mindfulness is so important to practice. It’s funny I don’t really remember hearing that much about it even ten years ago, but I believe it surfaced more recently because we need to take time for self-care. In this season, we tend to take more trips, visit friends and family, and take time off. During these breaks, take a moment for mindfulness to give thanks, breathe, and allow yourself the open space to think on the beauty of God’s creation, the amazing sounds around you, and most importantly being mindful of your own self-care. This passage from Numbers always reminds me of mindfulness, “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” When I close my eyes and look up towards the sky and sun, I always imagine the Lord shining down on all of us. Wishing you all a wonderful summer and hoping to see you at some of these exciting things happening at St. Alban’s!
Our youth group continues over the summer with one event per month. This past Saturday we went to the Carrigan Quarry. In July, we will be venturing down to Carowinds, planned for Sunday, July 24th. In August, we will have a Water Fun Day and Cookout at St. Alban’s, bringing back the ever-popular, oversized slip-n-slide!
Of course, what is Summer without VBS?! VBS will be held Monday, August 1st- Thursday, August 4th from 9-11am on the back lawn under tents. Our theme this year is Compassion Camp: Changing the World with Loving Kindness and we have so many fun things planned. We are still looking for youth and adult volunteers to help, please let us know if you have interest. There are so many ways to get involved this Summer and we hope to see you very soon!
