Merry Christmas to our sweet St. Alban’s family! This time of year brings so much joy and anticipation especially for our younger ones. It has always been one of my favorite times of the year with the music, lights, services, decorations, food, fun and fellowship. There are so many things to be thankful for, especially with all we have faced in the last year, and being together again is certainly at the top of the list. With this joyous time also comes many opportunities to give back and our parish has done an amazing job!
In addition to the gracious financial offerings, so many of our parish also give of their time and talents to bless our church community. We can also see many other thoughtful contributions in our main hallway recently that was filled with coats to benefit those in need. The children and youth Sunday Schools sponsored a Buddy Box overfilled with many toiletries to benefit Safe Alliance, an organization supporting those impacted by domestic violence. Angel Tree packages overflow around our Christmas Tree to benefit many children that otherwise would not have a gift. Of course, yet to come is our Youth Group sponsored Teddy Bear drive to be collected at the 3pm Christmas Eve service or dropped off beforehand in the bin at the side door. Last year, we collected 111 Teddy Bears and hope to surpass that this year!
Christmas can get busy and feel overwhelming sometimes too. We must remember to take time to stop and enjoy it. So many checklists and last-minute items we feel like we must conquer, but in this time let us all take time to reflect and spend quality time with those we love and say the meaningful things we feel and often do not say. In that spirit, all of you make up a wonderful church community that I am blessed to be a part of and serve. It is an honor to serve our Children, Youth and Family Ministries and I wish each of you the Merriest of Christmases and the Happiest of New Years! Thank you all for the many ways you bless our parish!
