The feeling of Fall is finally here! Although in NC, that could change in a day! As I drove down the road today, I happily looked out the window at the leaves beginning to change and the feel and smell of the chill in the air makes my heart happy! There is nothing better than to put on your favorite jeans and sweatshirt and sit by a fire pit or fire. Something about Fall makes us stop and be thankful for our wonderful seasons that make the world God has given us seem even more special.

With the change in the weather, how wonderful that we are finally beginning worship in person in some form or fashion! Although in small groups and in masks, the process of coming back is at least beginning to progress, thanks be to God! Our children and youth are not quite back, but I am pleased to say that we handed out over 35 Sunday School packets for September and are about to hand out more for October during the Blessing of the Animals this Sunday at 9am. They include lessons and activities to do at home and some goodies to go with our “Fishers of People” theme. The youth have been meeting on a Sunday night Zoom at 7pm when we have a short lesson and then we have fun playing online interactive games and laughing. It truly is funny how we can connect and laugh even though we are virtual. We would love to see more Middle and High School Youth joining us to have fun and please stay tuned as we are planning a Bonfire gathering for hopefully later in October.

This year has certainly presented with a fair number of challenges for so many of us in different ways. I find myself looking to my faith more than ever for strength, perseverance and peace. It is in all times, but especially in these times of trial that looking to God for sustenance can bring us the ultimate sense of fulfillment. We must stay strong and trust in him. These days will soon be a memory and we will know that maybe we all needed a reset to remind of us what is most important. This too shall pass when we find our peace in him.

With that in mind, a sweet friend recently delivered dinner and the gift of a prayer shawl to me with this amazing scripture from Ecclesiates 3: 12-13 in her note saying, “So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can. And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God.” May we all during this trying time, remember what is important for us to focus on. Enjoy all your time living, laughing, loving and giving back to others and this will get us all through! Prayers, peace and best wishes to you all!
