Adult Formation Opportunities

We see all of our adult ministries as opportunities for growth and learning what it is to be a Christian man or woman. Sometimes we learn by mopping a floor or setting up tables for a Fall Festival.   We learn through worship as we sing, pray and serve the church in the Altar guild, or as an usher, acolyte or lay reader.  We learn as we pray the daily office, on Sunday mornings and as we pray our way through the church year.  We also provide regular opportunities for learning through study, including:

Sunday Morning Adult Forum

The first Sunday of each month September through May, we will set aside for "Hot Topics, Holy Chat," same time and place, 9:00-10:00 a.m.  With your input if offered, I will designate in advance of the first Sunday, what seems to be the "hottest" and/or most controversial issues from the previous month, pleading for a Christian, faith-based discussion.  Then the other Sundays I will offer what was originally scheduled, "Reading Through the Hebrew Scriptures," every book of the Old Testament, to be exact. The schedule is here.

A lay led discussion group, in an open form, using poetry, secular writings and literary forms from all religious traditions that examine the shared insights of our individual spiritual awareness and growth in our life journeys.  The group meets from 9:10 -10:10 each Sunday, year-round. Currently this group meets in Father Greg's office.

Book Study Group

St. Albans Book Group will meet for a potluck brunch after church on October 16 to discuss Muhammad:  A Prophet for Our Time (2006) by Karen Armstrong, a British author and commentator known for her books on comparative religion. This book is available at  Please join us.  Contact Margot Leydic-Boyd ([email protected]) or Kathy Miller ([email protected]) for more information.
